Abhijit
अभिजित्
Everyday Hindi: अभिजीत
The midday muhūrta, and a twenty-eighth nakshatra in muhūrta texts.
Definition
Abhijit ('victorious') has two senses. Abhijit muhūrta is the eighth of the fifteen daytime muhūrtas, the period of about 48 minutes centred on local noon, which muhūrta texts describe as generally favourable. Abhijit nakṣatra is the twenty-eighth lunar mansion used in some muhūrta reckonings, covering the last quarter of Uttarāṣāḍhā and the first fifteenth of Śravaṇa; it is identified with the star Vega.
