Definition
Bhāskara I (7th century) was a commentator on Āryabhaṭa and the author of the Mahābhāskarīya. Bhāskara II, called Bhāskarācārya (1114–c. 1185), composed the Siddhāntaśiromaṇi in 1150, whose parts are the Līlāvatī (arithmetic), Bījagaṇita (algebra), Grahagaṇita and Golādhyāya (astronomy). His work includes the cakravāla method for indeterminate equations of the second degree, developing earlier work by Brahmagupta and Jayadeva.
