Meṣa (Aries, 'the ram') is the first rasi, covering 0°–30° of the sidereal zodiac. It is a movable (cara), fiery, odd sign ruled by Mars; the Sun is exalted in it and Saturn debilitated. In the kālapuruṣa scheme of BPHS it corresponds to the head.
