Svakṣetra (Svarāśi)

Svakṣetra ('own field') means a graha placed in a rasi it rules: the Sun in Siṃha, the Moon in Karka, Mars in Meṣa or Vṛścika, Mercury in Mithuna or Kanyā, Jupiter in Dhanu or Mīna, Venus in Vṛṣabha or Tulā, and Saturn in Makara or Kumbha. The texts rank own sign below exaltation and mūlatrikoṇa in dignity, and it is one of the conditions of the Pañca Mahāpuruṣa yogas.
