Brāhma muhūrta
ब्राह्ममुहूर्त
Everyday Hindi: ब्रह्म मुहूर्त
The muhūrta before dawn, about 96 to 48 minutes before sunrise.
Definition
Brāhma muhūrta is the fourteenth of the fifteen night-time muhūrtas, the period roughly from 96 to 48 minutes before sunrise. The texts on daily conduct name it as the time to rise; the Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdaya opens its chapter on dinacaryā with this instruction. It is traditionally associated with study and contemplation.
