Dinacaryā

दिनचर्या

Daily regimen as described in the Āyurvedic texts.

Definition

Dinacaryā ('daily conduct') is the daily routine set out in the Āyurvedic classics, notably Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdaya Sūtrasthāna 2 and Caraka Saṃhitā Sūtrasthāna 5. The texts describe a sequence beginning with rising in brāhma muhūrta and including cleansing, oil application, exercise, bathing, meals and conduct. This reference describes the regimen as a historical text, not as personal guidance.
