Horā skandha

Horā is the branch (skandha) of Jyotiṣa that deals with the individual: the birth chart (jātaka) and, in related works, questions (praśna) and elections (muhūrta). Its principal texts include BPHS, Bṛhajjātaka, Saravali, Phaladeepika and the Jaimini Sūtras. Varāhamihira, at the opening of the Bṛhat Saṃhitā, names horā with gaṇita and saṃhitā as the three branches of the discipline.
