Putra bhāva

The fifth house is called putra ('child') and also buddhi or vidyā bhāva. The texts assign to it children, intelligence, discernment, mantra and pūrva-puṇya, the merit carried from earlier lives. It is a trikoṇa and a paṇaphara house; Jupiter is its natural kāraka.
