Upacaya

Upacaya means 'increase'; the upachaya houses are the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh. The texts describe grahas here, especially natural malefics, as gaining in effect over time, and gocara reading counts several of these houses from the Moon as favourable for transits. Vasumatī yoga is defined by benefics in these houses.
