Aṣṭakavarga
अष्टकवर्ग
Eightfold point system scoring each sign for each graha.
Definition
Aṣṭakavarga assigns benefic points (bindus) to each sign from eight sources: the seven grahas and the Lagna. Each graha's own table is its bhinnāṣṭakavarga, and the sum of the seven is the sarvāṣṭakavarga, which always totals 337. BPHS and Bṛhajjātaka ch. 9 describe it, and it is used chiefly to refine the reading of transits through each sign.
