Duḥsthāna
दुःस्थान
Everyday Hindi: दुःस्थान (त्रिक भाव)
Difficult houses 6, 8 and 12, also called trika.
Definition
The duḥsthānas ('difficult places') are the sixth, eighth and twelfth houses, together called trika. The texts read their lords as tending to weaken the houses they join, yet the Viparīta Rāja yogas (Harṣa, Sarala, Vimala) arise when these lords themselves occupy duḥsthānas. The houses module of the School's programme studies this group alongside the kendras.
