Ari bhāva (Ripu, Śatru bhāva)

The sixth house is called ari, ripu or śatru, all meaning 'enemy', and also roga bhāva. BPHS lists opponents, debts, disease, litigation, maternal relatives and service among its significations. It is a duḥsthāna and also an upachaya, so the texts treat malefics and benefics placed here differently.
