Kendra
केन्द्र
Everyday Hindi: केंद्र
Angular houses 1, 4, 7 and 10; the chart's pillars.
Definition
The kendras are the first, fourth, seventh and tenth houses; the word is borrowed from the Greek kentron, 'centre'. The texts treat grahas in kendras as prominent, and the Pañca Mahāpuruṣa yogas require a graha there in its own or exaltation sign. Being 90° apart, the kendras are often called the 'square' houses in English.
