तनुभाव

Everyday Hindi: तनु भाव (प्रथम भाव)

First house: the body, self and constitution; the Lagna's house.

Definition

The first house, counted from the Lagna (ascendant), is called tanu, 'body'. Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS) assigns to it the body, complexion, temperament and the general standing of the person, and treats it as both a kendra and a trikoṇa. Its natural significator (kāraka) is the Sun.
