Pitṛ doṣa

Pitṛ doṣa is a configuration that later practice reads in connection with the father and the ancestral line, usually the Sun joined with Rāhu or Ketu, or Saturn or Rāhu in the ninth house. The ninth house as the house of the father (pitṛ-sthāna) comes from BPHS, but the named doṣa and its conditions are later practice and vary between authors. Most descriptions also list conditions, such as Jupiter's aspect on the Sun or the ninth house, under which it is not counted.
