Śani
शनि
Saturn: time, discipline, labour, delay and longevity.
Definition
Śani, Saturn, is the servant among the grahas in BPHS and the slowest-moving of the visible ones, taking about two and a half years to cross a sign. It rules Makara and Kumbha, is exalted in Tulā and debilitated in Meṣa, and casts special aspects on the third and tenth houses from itself. Its transit over the natal Moon gives rise to Sade Sati, and its Vimśottarī daśā lasts nineteen years.
